Shoe Tree and Thera-Ped Store: A New Take on Adage;
"When Shoe Fits, Wear It."

Moncton and Dieppe, New Brunswick are becoming recognized as the shopping Meccas of Atlantic Canada as more and more stores and shops open their doors in the Greater Moncton area.
The Shoe Tree at their new location in Downtown Moncton at the New Sobeys on Vaughn Harvey Blvd. is one of the stores attracting shoppers from all over the Maritimes for its emphasis on providing leading international brand names for footwear.
The store's aggressive marketing and advertising, combined with the old fashioned shopping concept of an informed, interested shop keeper and staff, is represented in Moncton by Jon Andrews at the Shoe Tree.
The modern store offers a large brand name footwear inventory and selection. Its jovial store owner, Jon Andrews and his footwear sales team are this week's focus of Local's Choice profile on a leading business, or individual of achievement, in Moncton, NB.
When you step into the Shoe Tree and Thera-Ped, the entire focus of the presentation is the walking comfort of those seeking footwear.
The newest addition to the shoe retailing store is the Thera-Ped foot orthotic clinic. It offers individual consulting on what you need to wear in order to create a comfortable walking/standing experience.
Foot orthotics can be used in almost any setting and are particularly sought out by those working long hours in demanding work circumstances where they are required to be on their feet for long periods of time.
Thera-Ped is operated by Jon's daughter Alison Smith (Canadian Certified Pedorthic Technician) and Deny Dallaire (Canadian Certified Pedorthist). They provide custom made inserts, fitted to your shoes. The inserts are made according to individual foot assessments, measurements and molds. Also know as orthotics, these inserts work with your footwear to make your feet and legs feel more comfortable.
It is not by accident that Thera-Ped's area off the main retail store resembles more of a medical clinic in its setting and approach than a retail store. It allows for individual and private consultations between a certified health professional and clients.
"Thera-Ped is relatively new for us. This expansion in shoe retailing with specialty orthotics is a perfect fit for us. Today, with an aging population and individuals who are working longer hours on their feet on unforgiving hard surfaces, everyone is looking for a fitted, comfortable shoe," says Andrews.
As Jon describes how the addition of pedorthic services to his retail shoe store is the "perfect fit", he rolls his eyes with delight at the obvious pun, as Jon has never met a pun or joke that he did not relish. Jon uses puns and jokes like most people use food condiments for improving the taste of a meal.
In a serious vein however, he explains that being able to offer the option of a personalized footwear fit to those customers requiring custom orthotics, is a growing and important part of being a modern shoe retailer today.
"The Maritimes is full of chain stores and shoe outlets, but we offer a dedicated and informed staff who have been with us for some time now and know their craft. Being professionally and carefully fitted can make the difference between a happy purchase and an investment in footwear that you come to regret. Not being fitted properly takes away from your enjoyment with discomfort from a poor fit," says Andrews.
